The ugly side of the Handsome Collection.

The Borderlands “Handsome Collection” just came out this past Tuesday.

For those not in the know, it is the entirety of Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel plus all of their downloadable content, together on one disc for PS4 and X1.

Now I’ve got a couple bones to pick when it comes to 2k (the publisher) about this and some of their other recent business practices. First of all, 2k said when the Pre-Sequel came out on 360 and PS3 that they weren’t considering bringing it to next-gen as it was made for those consoles, but yet here we are! Already buy The Pre-Sequel for 60 dollars last year? Well, if you want to be a relevant Borderlands player, buy another 60 dollar game, it’s got less disc swapping and more frames per second! Hooray… On top of that, Borderlands 1 is not included in this collection, which bums me out. If you are going to upscale your content and re-release it, why would you not include all of it? Couple that with the fact that 2k Games also published the recent game Evolve, which had a staggering 120+$ of day one downloadable content available from the start.

2k seems to be moving further and further from what their fans want. That being said, they are also treating their fans like walking wallets, and not fans. 120$ of Day 1 DLC is a blatant slap in the face to fans. I remember when games rewarded you with all the content up front for your purchase. That’s becoming a rarity, especially in a world where 2k has anything to say about it.

I’m a Borderlands fan, and 2k has released many great games over the years, but they need to stop biting the hands that feed them or they will begin to go hungry. (hopefully)
